SELF-GUIDED TOURS

*Day trip to Canada - A one hour drive north of the border to enjoy a variety of sightseeing or adventure activities.  If it's your first time in Canada, we suggest starting with the "Hop on Hop Off Bus Tour".  Maybe also consider a day of ice skating on the Rideau Canal - a beautiful frozen canal that weaves through villages with shops, restaurants and warming bonfires.  Other options include a visit to a Nordic Spa, a horseback riding excursion or day of museum visits and pub visits through Ottawa.  A truly amazing experience!  Let us help you plan a great day!

*Dog Sled Ride & Kennel Visit - Located just 40 minutes from Claire House, Call of the Wild Kennels offers authentic sled rides in the North Country with a visit to the kennel to learn more about these amazing dogs.​

*Remington Art Museum Visit with Wine Tasting -  A two minute drive to the Frederic Remington Museum and then a visit to a local winery for some tastings and artistic discussion!

Summer Activities

*Pontoon Rental - Rent a boat and cruise the day away on the St. Lawrence River!  Drive about 40 minutes to rent a pontoon boat from Mac's boat rentals.  (Approximately $350 for a full day!).  Boats are pristine, and the river is spectacular.  Sun, swim and motor into Alexandria bay for some shopping, live music and dining in this beautiful riverside resort town.

*Kayaking - Head over to Hosmer's Marina (about 2 minutes from Claire House) and rent some kayaks for a day on the river.  Return to Hosmer's when you're done and stay for live music, food & drinks at their restaurant, Smuggler's Cove.

*White Water Rafting - If you're feeling especially adventurous, drive to Black River (40 minutes) for a day of white water rafting.  Not for the faint of heart, but so worth it!
